Not only does the building contain the Continuing Education Department and house numerous classes during the semester, it also serves as a meeting place for outside businesses and events.

The building’s namesake, Leah Spratt, was a graduate of St. Joseph Junior College in 1921. Following that, she served as a school teacher and was the founder of Missouri Western’s Writing Across the Curriculum. She also received Missouri Western’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 1993.

Included in its many features are classrooms fully equipped with computers for teachers and students, a large theatre area and an outdoor classroom area.
