![]() The building's namesake, Fred Eder, was very important to Missouri Western, having served as president of the Board of Regents after the college became a fully-funded state institution in 1978. Now the building will house the English, Journalism and Foreign Language Department and The Griffon News and Griffon Yearbook, as well as the Registrar's and Admissions Offices, the Business Office, the Financial Aid Office, the Freshman Year Experience Office, the Non-Traditional Student Center, The Special Needs Office, Career Services, Job Location, and Counseling and Testing. Located directly behind the Fred Eder Student Services/Classroom building on Missouri Western’s spacious campus, the Janet Gorman-Murphy Academic Center’s (MC) collegiate seal is visible from Woodbine Road directly in front of the main entrance. Completed during summer 2000, the building is full of technology and space. Housing the Communication and Psychology departments, this building boasts up-to-date technology in every classroom. Named after Janet Gorman-Murphy, Missouri Western’s president until late 2000, the building was one of the many things Murphy helped Missouri Western achieve. A champion for higher education, Murphy was constantly finding ways to keep Missouri Western abreast with other schools in areas such as technology, education and scholarship. The newly finished building was dedicated to Murphy in 2000, during her last year as president of Missouri Western. |
